About Theme Industry 4.O
Industry 4.O is driven by huge data volumes, computational power and need to apply fundamentals of Data Analytics. The new forms of Human-Machine Interactions and the power of huge networks is changing the world of production. Virtual reality and Augmented Reality have already entered the world of these smart factories to make the foot prints of digital instructions in physical world. Advanced robotics, high end flexible automation and 3-D printing is boosting the speed of new product launch.
Industry 4.O has four design principles:1. Interoperability: The ability of the machines, tools, sensors, equipments and people to communicate with each other through IoT or Internet of People (IoP)
2. Information Transparency: The ability of information systems to create a virtual copy of the physical world by enhancing the digital models of manufacturing plants with sensor data.
3. Technical Assistance: It consist of the ability of assistance systems to support human beings for taking informed decisions and also the ability of the cyber physical systems to support human beings by executing the tasks which are unpleasant, unsafe or too exhaustive for them.
4. Decentralized Decisions: The ability of the cyber physical systems to take the decisions on their own and to perform their tasks to the best autonomous extent.
Gearing up for Industry 4.O:
Industry readiness: The industry is on the verge of transforming in to Smart Factories due to huge demand of the customers and the changing nature of the demands. Industry 4.O is a role model to step in to the dynamic production world through the dissemination of various technologies. The gear is to be shifted from human decision to smart machine decision and human made production systems to smart quality based automated production units.
Academic readiness: The emerging technologies like IoT, IoP, virtual and augmented reality are no longer to be observed or learned from the books. Academic platform is to be dynamic and absorbing for these technologies. It is required that the students during learning must be able to deploy these technologies and get the feel of changing production processes. The jobs will no longer traditional core jobs for the budding engineers, but will be of multi-disciplinary nature and demands practical exposure to modern technologies.
